- Identity Data: Includes username, date of birth, and gender (stored as metadata).
- Contact Data: Includes email address used for Google Sign-In.
- Technical Data: Includes internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access this app.
- Usage Data: Includes information about how you use our app and services.
- Location Data: We collect city-level geolocation data to facilitate pen-pal matching. We do not share precise coordinates with other users.
2. How We Use Your Data
We only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:
- To register you as a new user.
- To calculate delivery times for your letters based on geographic distance.
- To manage our relationship with you.
- To enable you to partake in a prize draw, competition or complete a survey.
- To improve our app, services, marketing, and relationships.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We use trusted third-party services to ensure the best experience and security:
- Supabase: Used for secure authentication and database management. Your identity and usage data are stored securely on Supabase servers.
- Firebase (Google): Used for Google Sign-In authentication and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver push notifications for arriving letters.
4. Geolocation and Privacy
InkNook uses your location to calculate the physical distance between you and your pen pals. This distance is used to determine how long a letter takes to arrive. We only display city-level proximity or general regions to other users. Your precise GPS coordinates are never exposed.
5. Data Security
We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know.
6. Your Legal Rights
Under certain circumstances, you have rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data, including the right to request access, correction, erasure, restriction, transfer, or to object to processing.
